Posted by: Purushottam Thakur
Keyword Research and Ranking is the very important thing that needs a bigger consideration. Many of the people thinks that quality contents of a website or blog is the everything, but they lose sight of the SEO. They just creates their blog/website by spending their money, and starts writing quality content (sorry, its epic), but they forgets about the implementation of keywords. Because they don't have proper knowledge about the keywords, that how to research a keyword and how to properly implement it on the webpages.
If you are one of those who thinks SEO is nothing, explain it in the comment column below or just read this article at the end, I will instruct you everything about planning and implementing a keyword through Google Keyword Planner.

What Is Google Keyword Planner ?
The Google Keyword Planner is a keyword analysis and research tool, which is proudly provided by the Google. It is a powerful and best keyword research tool among the professionals that demonstrates monthly searched terms and its estimated amount of visitors.

Monthly searched terms are those search volumes or search terms that peoples use to search their results on the search engines. We call it keywords. In other words, a keyword is that term which you type to find something on the Google or other search engine.

That means, if you properly use a keyword on your blog or website, your blog will get higher visits from the search engines than before. If you get higher visits, you get higher value, more sale and more income.

Before we get started with Keyword Planner, you must keep in mind that, there are many features and tools but some of them are not useful for you, as the Keyword Planner is designed and developed for Google AdWords advertisers. So start the keyword research process with the best tool.

How to Research Keywords using Keyword Planner Tool?
Dealing with Google Keyword Planner is not a rigid task anymore. But I am trying to make this tutorial easier for you by giving step by step guidance with each step screenshot.

Step 1: Accessing Google Keyword Planner
Accessing Keyword Planner is just an very easy step, you have to visit this URL, by manually typing it in your URL bar or just search it on the Google, in order to access the keyword planner tool. Here is the link:

Step 2: Sign In to Keyword Planner
You can sign in to there by any Google Account Id (Gmail Id) you want to work with. Just fill your details (gmail id & password) and then sign in.

Step 3: Five Tools of Google Keyword Planner
Just after signing into the keyword planner, your display will have five different keyword research tools. You only need to use these below 3 tools for researching keywords.
  1. Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category.
  2. Get search volume data and trends.
  3. Multiply keyword lists to get new keyword.
Other 2 tools are only for Google AdWords Advertisers. If you are a Adwords Advertiser and running a campaign then you can use these below 2 tools, otherwise, you don't need to use it.
  1. Enter or upload a list of keywords to get forecasts.
  2. Get forecasts for campaigns or keywords from your account.
(I am not going to talk about these two tools right here, but I will try to cover it in other article.)

Step #4: Get Started with the Right Tool
Below you will see the tutorials on using those three tools to optimize your contents with keywords.

First Tool: Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category.
This one is surpassing tool which lets you discover new keywords. Just after choosing this tool you will see a menu with few options. So give over a look on these options.
  • Your product or service: In this option, I recommend you to type your 1-4 different keywords. Don't use any broad industry keywords such as "Bicycles", if you use such broad industry keywords, then you will be end-up with the list of highly competitive master keywords, and thats not good to begin.
  • Your landing page: This is not for you but you can get most of it. This column is mainly for the Adwords advertiser but, you can use this to find your best keywords just by entering your Blog or website URL.
  • Your product category: In this column, you need to write some words which intelligently tells everything about your service, product or category. There are already variety of heads you can choose from.
  • Targeting: Choose desired countries, languages, etc to get best keywords for your webpages. You don't have to do anything with "Negative keywords", as it is only for the advertisers.
  • Data range: You have to set Data range according to your requirement.
Customize your search:
  • Keyword filters: If you like to filter out keywords which doesn't fits your criteria, then use this option.
  • Keyword options: If you like to hide some keywords in your account, you can use it.
  • Keywords to include: You can type your keywords which you like to include.
Second Tool: Get search volume data and trends.
By dealing with this feature of Keyword Planner, you can see the level of competition and monthly searches of your keywords. The best way to use this tool is, just write down all of your keywords in a CSV file and then upload it.
As you can see in the screenshot, I searched for the keyword "Android", the monthly searches are 1M to 10M but have lower competition level. I recommend you to, always use long tail keywords and have lower level of competition.

Third Tool: Multiply keyword lists to get new keywords
By using this tool, you can find new keyword ideas. You just have to add your keywords by typing there or uploading in a CSV file, after that, the tool produces all the possible combinations that users searches on the web. I recommend you this tool, if you are running a e-commerce website or blog.
